Detention Deputy Job Duties

Job Duties:

Focus on maintaining the safety, order and discipline of inmates held in the Cullman County Detention Center.  Enforce security rules and regulations, participate in booking, fingerprinting, photographing and processing of new inmates; escort inmates when moving inmates inside or outside the detention center; maintaining close checks on all inmates physical conditions, reporting illness or injury to supervisors; operate electronic monitoring equipment, maintaining records, the understanding and operation of  NCIC and two-way communications.  Must be able to follow oral and written instructions; be able to read and comprehend written material; possess logical reasoning, memory and observation skills.  Be available to work day, evening, or night shifts including holidays and weekends as needed to staff the detention center.  Overtime hours may be required. Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

Age:
Must be at least 19 years of age to apply

Education:
General Educational Development (GED) Certificate, High School Diploma or higher to apply

Other:
Applicants must pass a written exam, physical exam, drug screen, physical fitness test, background investigation and interviews prior to appointment.
